National Microfinance Bank Plc (NMB) is the largest bank in Tanzania, both when ranked by customer base and branch network. With over 150 branches NMB are located in more than 90% of Tanzania’s districts.
NMB was created in 1997, by an Act of Parliament, from the dissolution of the former National Bank of Commerce and privatized in 2005. NMB quickly grew into a full fledged retail bank offering a full product range and now serves more than 1.8 million customers.
The bank’s retail operation includes three categories, Transactional accounts, Savings accounts and Credit facilities. Transactional accounts include NMB Personal Accounts, targeted to the mass market for day to day use, NMB Student Accounts for students under 18, and the NMB Wisdom account developed to service pensioners.
NMB savings accounts include the Junior Account targeting children, .which automatically turns into a Bonus Account at age 18, offering a higher interest rate and bonus interest.
NMB Wholesale Banking offers a solid track record in providing world-class, risk-managed wholesale banking services to large companies, the Government and the public sector including:
